50th Year Challenge

What a difference a year can make!

We are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Sherwood Oaks in some big ways in 2012. On December 4, Tom laid out some big dreams for the Sherwood Oaks family. Are you ready to change the world in 2012?

Tom asked us, as a congregation, to devote ourselves to three big areas as we celebrate our year of Jubilee!

Pray

As a congregation, we want to commit to 50,000 hours of prayer in 2012. We know prayer changes things, and we want to immerse our entire lives in prayer. Imagine living in constant prayer and being changed. That's only 3.5 minutes a day.

Serve

As a congregation, we want to commit to 50,000 hours of service within the church and 50,000 hours of service outside the church in 2012. We will live out Yes2Love and show both Bloomington and the world that we are committed to living outside ourselves. That's 7 minutes a day!

Give

As a congregation, we want to commit to raising 5 million dollars to pay off the church debt and give a ton away to causes and people around the world. If 1,000 giving units gave an additional $5,000, we could do it. You can pledge as many giving units as you feel led to pledge. A giving unit could be your small group, your family, your Sunday school class...whatever you want it to be.
