CareFest

 

Spring Carefest is a day when Sherwood Oaks folks head out into to community to serve at various locations with the idea of getting out in the world to help others, all to bringing glory to our Lord. Bring your family, your friends, your small group - everyone - and serve Bloomington with no strings attached! Carefest is the perfect time to put Yes2Love into action!

#1 Boys & Girls Club
Lincoln Street  
Building repairs, painting and deep cleaning of building
Tools: Saws, hammers, painting supplies, cleaning supplies, work gloves
Leader: TBA

Meet at the Boys & Girls Club ready to work at 9:00am.

#2  Boys & Girls Club, Camp Rock
Tunnel Road, Lake Lemon    
General landscape cleanup, building repairs and cleanup.
Tools: Rakes, shovels, cleaning products, gloves.  Maximum 15 people, any age.
Leader: Carol Kugler

Meet at the site ready to work at 9:00am or meet at Sherwood Oaks, door #20 and join the caravan which pulls out of the parking lot at 8:30am.  
Directions to Camp Rock at Lake Lemon, from Bloomington:Take Ind. 45 east toward Brown County. Stay on Ind. 45 through New Unionville and turn left on to Tunnel Road. Follow Tunnel Road north. You stay on for a long time, going past even the turn (to the right) to South Shore Drive. You then go down that hill and will see a sign for Camp Rock, Riddle Point Rowing Association on the right as you approach Riddle Point Park. It's a gravel driveway back to a small parking area that overlooks the lake. If you go too far, you'll end up at Riddle Point Park.

#3  New Hope Family Shelter 
409 W 2nd Street

Repairs, painting, cleaning, landscape cleanup.  Under age 14 with parents.
Tools:  Hammers, rakes, shovels and gloves.

Meet at the shelter, ready to work at 9:00am.  There is plenty of parking on the south side of the homes which face 2nd street (in between the Hospital and Wendys).

#4 Parks & Rec- Trail cleanup & plant removal  **Family Friendly**

Sherwood Oaks Park & Trail/ Olcott Park,  All Ages
Pull & remove invasive plants, cleanup trail and park.
Tools: Gloves
Leader: Mark Gall

Meet at Olcott Park, at the trail to Sherwood Oaks Park, at 9:00am.

Q. How do I sign up for CareFest?
R. 1) Click the project name which will link you to an online signup form.   2). Sign up at the kiosk in the foyer in the weeks prior to Carefest.  3).  Email (or call 334.0206), with your name and the project name.        

Q. What happens after I sign up for a project?
R. You may receive an email from your project leader, about a week before CareFest, but if you don’t just meet at your project at the time and location listed along with your gloves & water.

Q. What about lunch?
R. Bring your own lunch if your project is scheduled to last through the afternoon.

Q. What should I bring?
R. Bring a bottle of water, gloves, appropriate shoes, tools listed for the project and maybe lunch.

Q. What if I don’t have the tools listed?
R. Don’t worry someone else will bring extra (bring extra if you can!).

Q. What if I have special skills or tools?
R. Let your project manager know this right away.
