Before you visit
We're so glad you're considering a visit to Sherwood Oaks! And we'll keep it easy for you.
We offer many worship service times to fit your busy schedule. There is plenty of parking. And we promise to take good care of your kids.
We are already excited to share Sherwood Oaks with you! And we hope you feel welcome and comfortable when you walk into Sherwood Oaks for the first time. Here's some information to help you do just that.
The main entrances to the church are Doors 1, 5 and 20. You'll see big numbers on the doors when you pull into the parking lot. There is designated guest parking outside Doors 1 and 5 for your convenience. If you have kids to settle into children's programming before you attend service, park at Door 15 and go right to the Kid's Welcome Center. They'll get your kids checked in and help you find the service you want.
You'll see suits, and you'll see jeans and t-shirts. There isn't a dress code at Sherwood Oaks. We don't care what you wear, we just want you to enjoy your time with us. Be comfortable and be you!
What do you offer for my children? What about for teenagers?
Sherwood Oaks loves children and families! We have plenty of room for your kids to experience the love of Christ in a way that makes sense to them.
Children's programming (birth-6th grade) is offered during the 9:30am & 11:00am services. Simply take your kids to the Kid's Welcome Spot (near Door 15) and they will help you. Your kids will be safe and in good hands with our top-notch children's staff and volunteer teams. We believe it's never too early to tell kids about the love of God and that they can help tell His story to the world. Our children's department loves to help kids say Yes2Love in simple, practical ways.
Go here to learn more about our children's check-in system and our commitment to providing a safe and loving environment.
Student (7th-12th grade) programming is at 9:30am in the Student Ministry department. Your teens will be encouraged to live out their faith in practical ways with their friends, their neighbors and their community. Led by our Student Ministry staff and committed volunteers, the Youth programming will impact your student's life and challenge them to learn to say Yes2Love in their own life.
When are worship services? And what are they like?
We have services at 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00am in the Worship Center and an additional service at 11:00am in the Fellowship Hall.
The 8:00am service is more traditional, with hymns led by a piano and small vocal team.
At 9:30am & 11:00am, you can expect the music to be a little louder, and there will be a full band. Current choruses and songs are mixed with traditional hymns to give these services life and energy.
Communion is served every Sunday in every service at your seat. We encourage you to take the bread and juice as it is passed and then hold it for your personal reflection. You are encouraged to partake of the elements when you feel ready. We believe communion is open to all believers, and is the perfect reminder that Jesus chose to say Yes2Love on our behalf.
Offering is collected each Sunday and is a time set apart where members of Sherwood Oaks can honor their commitment to the vision of the church and the desire to take Jesus' message of Yes2Love to the world.
Started just a few years ago, the 11:00am service in the Fellowship Hall is a place where acoustic guitars drive the music, creating a smaller, more intimate atmosphere.
Communion tables are located throughout the room, and you are encouraged to go and take communion during the service. Simply take communion at the tables and then return to your seat. Like the Worship Center services, communion is open to all believers, and is the perfect reminder that Jesus chose to say Yes2Love on our behalf.
Offering plates are available at the communion tables. Offering is collected each Sunday and is a time set apart where members of Sherwood Oaks can honor their commitment to the vision of the church and the desire to take Jesus' message of Yes2Love to the world.
