Community Care

At Sherwood Oaks, we try to say Yes2Love in many different ways.  One of the ways we can say Yes2Love is to reach out and make a difference in the local community.  

Our goal for 2012, SOCC's 50th anniversary year, is to serve 50,000 hours in the community.  (In addition to 50,000 hours within our own church family).   That equates to about 34 hours of service for each person in our congregation or less than 3 hours per month.  There will be planned serving events throughout the year but we also want you to take the initiative and find your own service niches.  Visit the Serving Central to see what needs are currently being requested by local agencies that we partner with.  What are you waiting for?  Jump in and get started serving this month! 

CAREFEST

Carefest is a congregation-wide event we gather as many volunteers as possible for volunteering in an all-out community service Blitz. But, when we're not doing CareFest, we still reach out into our world to make a difference.   Go to our CareFest page to learn more about getting involved with this outreach. 

Monthly Collection

Each month you have an opportunity to say Yes2Love by donating items for local and global non-profit organizations.  Collection bins are conveniently located at Doors 20, 5 and 3.

April:    Diapers, wipes and baby products for Crisis Pregnancy Center
May: Warm weather clothing & flat heeled shoes for Master Provisions (trailer in parking lot)
June: Non perishable foods for local agencies
July:   School supplies and backpacks
August:  Toiletries and OTM medications for local agencies
September:  Supplies for Remember The Children care packages
October:  Crans & Yams for Backstreet Missions Thanksgiving baskets
November:  Hats, Scarves, Mittens & Gloves
December:  Blankets, Sleeping Bags & Winter Coats for Shalom Center
