What We Value

Our Values

Connect, Grow, Serve, Share and Worship.  These are our core values.

Our mission statement reflects these values and they serve as guidelines in carrying out the vision of the church.  Join with us as we work to carry out the mission of Christ’s church by living out these values.

SOCC values being connected.  Attending worship is good but it falls far short of our need for relational community.  God created us as relational beings – a reflection of His own nature - and we will develop best as His followers when we connect to one another.  And we connect best in smaller settings.  In such environments we grow, pray, help, encourage and share our lives with one another.  It is the smaller family within the larger family.  Both are vital.  We value building relationships with the Lord and with others in His family.

SOCC values spiritual growth.  God loves us just the way we are, but He also wants us to mature.  We offer a variety of opportunities to grow in our knowledge, expand in our understanding and apply God’s Word to our everyday lives.

SOCC values service that makes a difference.  The church exists to serve God and carry out His mission.  Part of that mission happens within the church family as we seek to help meet one another’s needs.  Part of that mission also involves reaching out beyond ourselves into the community to make a difference in the lives of hurting people.  Serving is both a church-wide and individual privilege.

SOCC values sharing good news.  When we realize how much God has done for us, it is a natural to want others to know Him, too.  How selfish we would be to hoard His good news for us alone.  We want to take His hope to the people who live around us and to those around the globe who are hungering for answers that only God can provide.  Everyone deserves an invitation…everyone is welcome.

SOCC values worship as a lifestyle.  A loving, generous God blesses us.  Our response to such goodness is to worship Him – both individually and as a church body.  Our desire is to provide a relevant and meaningful experience where we can together express our love and thankfulness to God.  That alone, however, is not sufficient.  Worship must be more than an event; it must also be a daily expression of one’s heart and attitude to God.
