Greg Butler

Greg Butler was born in Indianapolis, Aug 25, 1952. Raised in Johnson County, he Graduated from Franklin Community HS in 1970 and Indiana University in 1974 with a BA in Forensic Studies. Greg was commissioned a Police Officer in Indiana Aug 1972 while at IU.

Accepted a commission in the U S Marine Corps upon graduation from IU in 1974 – Married the former Nancy Medlock of Bedford in June of 1974 – We have three children, Nathan a US Customs Agent in Atlanta;  Sarah (Bundy) a Court Reporter for Circuit Court 2, Monroe County and Justin currently a 2LT in the US Marine corps. I Retired from USMC in 1994 after 20 years service and am currently a Lieutenant with the Indiana University Police Department and Director of the IU Police Academy.

I am also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 147th session.

Nancy is a school teacher with Monroe County Schools

Outside interest include sports activities, running (ran Marine Corps Marathon 2004/2005), biking, camping and involved with Indiana Special Olympics and the Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS)
