Korry Ashton

Korry had been working with the SOCC Ministry for a year and half as an unpaid servant, prior to his being hired. However, he never realized that God would lead him to minister through this avenue. According to Korry, his position here at SOCC “is a huge, huge surprise…I still feel that I’m living a dream because I’ve sat back and looked and asked ‘what have I done to deserve [this job]?’ – I’ve done nothing to deserve it.”
His first goal “is to develop an audio and lighting ministry where the volunteers can continue to grow spiritually.” He says, “One of the main reasons I was hired was that I love to work with people.” Jason Lanham, SOCC’s Media Minister, agrees. “We are very much a people business and, even though we’re responsible for setting up the stage and making sure there are mics and designing graphics and tending to all the technical elements, our first concerns are the people we minister to and the people we minister with.”
Perhaps the next most important aspect of having someone like Korry on the team is that it eases the increasing high level of responsibility placed upon the Media Ministry as SOCC grows. “He’s really freed us up. When we compare ourselves to other similar churches, we found we were operating beyond our capacity…on borrowed resources,” Jason says. “Having Korry here has allowed us to focus on what we’re already doing, to do it better and allows us to be more responsible with our family and recreation time.”
SOCC is excited that Korry has joined our ministry and proud of what he has accomplished so far.
