Alan Phillips
Alan and Sharon Phillips grew up in the church in Rome, New York. They
attended Abilene Christian
University (ACU) in Abilene, Texas where Sharon graduated with a degree
in Theatre Arts and Alan a degree in Biology.
The Phillips' have three children. Rachel Buck is a Marriage and Family Therapist. Luke is a PhD. candidate at Indiana University in Philosophy. Savannah (Chelsea) is an undergraduate student at Purdue University pursuing a major in Chinese.
Alan served in the Hospital Corps in the United States Navy and received a Master of Divinity from ACU in 1980. Sharon and Alan were involved in International Mission in New York City at One World Trade Center for eleven years. International Mission evangelized English students using the Bible as a text for learning English. While in New York, Alan served as the church Non-Governmental Organization representative to the United Nations. Leaving New York City, Alan served as the senior minister in Temple Hills, Maryland for seven years before taking the position of senior minister at the North Central Church of Christ in Bloomington in 1997.
Sharon has acted professionally in New York, Washington, D.C., and Bloomington. She is currently employed at Spirit 95 FM Christian radio where she hosts the noon "All for #1" praise hour.
Alan likes fishing, softball and computing, as well as running. Sharon teaches acting and oral interpretation, producing a play about once a year. Rachel lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, where her husband is employed at the University of Virginia. Savannah plays tennis and soccer. You have seen Savannah and Sharon act together in the Face to Face women's programs.
