Bart Bretsch

Bart Bretsch and his family have lived in Bloomington since 2002.  Bart began serving as a Deacon in 2007.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, and a MBA in Management from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana.  Bart works for Smithville Telephone Company, Inc. and its affiliates as their Director of Operations, which includes managing the outside technician workforce and the engineering staff.  Bart’s father was a career Army officer, and he has moved 14 times in his lifetime, but he considers himself a Hoosier, having lived here 18 of the last 22 years.

Bart’s wife Susan is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelors degree from Indiana University in Nursing.  Her nursing has focused on Oncology, but for now she is currently not working outside of the home.  She was born and raised in Central Indiana.  Bart and Susan have 3 children: Zachary (14) a freshman at South, Adam (12) a sixth grader in the University ALPS program and Savannah in SOCC preschool (5).

The Bretsch family have attended Sherwood Oaks since 2002 and joined the church in 2005, the same year that both Zachary and Adam were baptized.  Bart is active as an Uplifter, while Susan is on the Serve committee for the Hospitality House and a leader in Roof Crashers.  Bart and Susan participate in a small group, as well as join the Faith on Fire group for Wednesday classes.  Bart and Susan have served in Sunday morning childcare, Tot-spot through Worship 78.  Bart and his family are excited about the prospect of serving others within and outside of SOCC in the Deacon role.
