What To Expect
You’ll notice we’re a diverse church, and you’ll feel right at home wearing anything from jeans to a dress, casual dress or a suit.
As you enter the front door, there will be friendly people ready to welcome you. On your first visit, please be sure to stop by the Welcome desk – we’d love to meet you there, and we have a gift for you to say thank you for coming.
No matter what you’ve been through or what questions you might have, our church is a place where you’ll find the grace, mercy
Here’s a short list of what you can specifically look for when you visit Sherwood Oaks Bloomington West.
We're quickly running out of room and have a plan to increase our ministry space by converting some unused garage space into a welcoming, inviting area for students and other ministries to use. Our challenge is to raise $75,000 to get the work done! You can give using the blue envelopes on Sundays or by clicking the link below (select West Expansion from the dropdown menu).
Our parking lot is on two separate levels, but easy to navigate. Feel free to park wherever is most convenient for you. Handicap accessible spaces are located near the facility with convenient access to the door. If it’s raining, or if someone in your vehicle has limited mobility, feel free to drop off at the front entrance and our parking attendants will assist the needs and have umbrellas in case yours is at home or in another vehicle.
Please visit the Welcome Center and introduce yourself! We'd love to get to know you and answer any questions you might have and pick up a gift from us.
We would be happy to guide you through everything you might need to know while attending Sherwood Oaks Bloomington West (i.e. restroom locations, breakfast bar, kids programming, etc.).
If you have children, you will want to allow roughly 10-15 minutes for the initial check-in process. We take your child’s security seriously, so there are a few forms we will ask you to fill out.
After you arrive, feel free to stop by our breakfast bar and feel free to grab anything from a cup of coffee to fresh fruit, donuts and much more before the worship service.
You are more than welcome to take your refreshments to your seat during worship.
We offer a great ministry experience for children ages birth through 5th grade. If your child would like to attend our Sherwood Kids programming, you will first need to register them at the Sherwood Kids Kiosk. All kids ages birth through 5th grade can be dropped off at their respective classrooms (marked with banners) for the duration of our worship gathering (age groups are detailed below). All Sherwood Kids workers have been background checked and classes are divided as follows:
- Nursery (Infants - 24 Months)
- Early Childhood (Age 2-Kindergarten)
- Elementary (1st – 5th Grade)
We love middle and high school students and the impact they are making in Bloomington and around the world.
- The Middle (6th-8th grades) meet at the
11:00amservice. Look for The Middle banner to meet up with the student leader.
- High School Catalyst (9th-12th grades) meet at the
11:00amservice. Look for The Catalyst banner to meet up with the student leader.
Offering and Communion
We will pass the offering plate during the service ( checks can be made out to Sherwood Oaks). Text to give by texting
We encourage you to take the bread and juice during communion time which is located at the four stations of the Worship Center, and then hold it for your personal reflection, partaking of the elements when you feel ready.
