April 27 Minute Message

Emerson Pugh, researcher at IBM, said, “If the human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn’t.” Hi I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Our computers provide vast information for us at the click of a mouse, but even the most powerful cannot begin to match the intelligence of the brain. Recent studies reveal that the brain of a honeybee can accomplish the same thing as computer mapping programs. Type in the coordinates and a computer will give you the shortest or quickest route to your destination. A honey bee, after making multiple stops to collect nectar, can not only compute the shortest but also the most energy-efficient route back to the hive. And she does all on the fly. After returning, she will go through a series of twists and waggles to communicate to the rest of the hive the distance and direction to the flowers she discovered. All of that with a brain the size of a grass seed.

If a honey bee can accomplish so much with so little, imagine what we can do when we put our minds to it. Simply put – use your brain to make a positive difference and honor the Lord!
