Dying to Ourselves

Posted by Tyler Cadwell on

2 Corinthians 4&5

We are not here to preach ourselves, or to make ourselves bigger and better than others. We are here to be servants of Christ, dying to ourselves and letting Jesus shine through. In 2 Corinthians 4:10, the NET version puts it best: “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” This is a really tough concept to understand and it is best described as God letting us be a part of His story, a bigger story, something bigger than ourselves. By doing this, we do not focus on what we see in this world, we focus on what God focuses on and we see the bigger picture.

In 2 Corinthians 5:16, Paul continues this thought “so from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view…” And we ask, how is this possible? I believe Paul anticipated that question. In 5:21 he wrote, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
