This week the youth our of community head back to school. One of our grandchildren enters third grade, while two more join the ranks of other wide-eyed first graders. It seems but a moment in time when our daughters were entering the very same grades; I still remember how I felt. All parents struggle with their emotions as they send their sons and daughters off to the classroom. We console ourselves with the thought that we are giving our children wings and we are. So, encourage them to soar and do their best. Encourage their teachers also. Thank them for their hard work and devotion to educate our youth.
But remember, our children also need landing gear as well as a safe place to land. Give them spiritual truths that will encourage them in their disappointments, anchor them in their stormy moments and humble them in their successes. God gives us wings to soar like the
