Research indicates that the average person laughs over 500,000 times in a lifetime but cries only 3,000 times or less.  Hi I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

If those statistics, which are based on averages, are even remotely accurate, it is worth noting that most of life is filled with far more laughter than tears. And that’s a good thing. From a medical perspective we now know that among several positive effects, laughter also has a profound and instantaneous impact on virtually every vital organ in the body. Laughter reduces health-zapping tensions and relaxes the muscle tissue. Researchers estimate that laughing 100 times is equivalent to 15 minutes on a stationary exercise bike.  Even when forced, laughter has beneficial effects on us, both mentally and physically.  No wonder the book of Proverbs states, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

So, make it your goal to help people laugh.  Let your smile be your calling card.  And like pleasant cologne, let the joy of your laughter linger in a place long after you’ve gone.  God created us to laugh – so chuckle, giggle and snicker as often as you can.  Laughter really is good medicine!
