Nutritionists recommend that we drink lots of water daily for a healthy life. Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

We are surrounded by water – 71% of the earth’s surface is covered by it.  Sixty percent of our bodies are comprised of it, so it is no surprise that we often take water for granted.  But without it we won’t live out the week.  Have you ever thought about this unique, life sustaining cycle?  It’s called the hydrologic cycle; water evaporates, condenses in the clouds, and then returns to the earth as precipitation.  Some soaks in and is stored as groundwater. It’s absorbed by the root system of plants and from the plants back into the atmosphere.  Some evaporates from standing bodies of water only to return as rain.  We learned about it in elementary school, but science didn’t understand it until late in the 17th century.  And yet, in the Old Testament book of Job, we find the basic hydrologic cycle spelled out.

Since the beginning of time, pure, fresh water has sustained all of creation.  Maybe that’s why Jesus said, “I am the Living Water.”  So, the next time you drink a glass of water, remember that Jesus is to our soul what water is to our health.
