In many ways, life is exciting because of the endless procession of amazing moments.  What’s more, some of the most wonderful moments have come disguised as pleasant surprises. Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Scottish biologist Alexander Fleming was accustomed to being teased by friends and colleagues for keeping a messy lab. The truth is he was very hesitant to throw out his old bacteria cultures until absolutely nothing more could be learned from them. When he returned to his lab after a vacation in the summer of 1928, he was surprised to discover that a common mold, the kind that grows on bread, had killed the bacteria he had been cultivating in a lab dish. He wrote a paper on his findings which in turn led to the development of penicillin during WW II.

Keep your eyes open; be observant; don’t let the routines and ruts of daily living keep you from discovering the surprises God has in store for you. You may not discover a new antibiotic, but you will be amazed at all God is doing in your life. God never wastes an experience, so keep watching and waiting for life’s surprises.
