Welcome to the Inspired Blog

Emily BedwellThank you for logging on to the Inspired blog! We are so glad you're here and so glad that you've chosen to take this journey with us. We are planning on having fresh blogs Sunday through Friday each week beginning September 1.

As we prepare to begin, I thought I would share one of my favorite verses of scripture with you.

"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Genesis 1:2 (NIV)

I love the moment of expectation captured in this moment. The Spirit of God is hovering over the water, waiting to begin His work of creation. There is moment before everything starts and changes. Before God began His greatest work, he paused in the darkness before exploding forth with light and life.

How often in your life do you feel poised in the darkness, waiting for something big to happen? Is the dark scary of peaceful? As someone who doesn't always like the unknown, there is a real peace in this verse and the reminder that God is hovering, even in the darkness, about to do something amazing.

The darkness doesn't have to be scary. It doesn't have to be a time of sadness and loneliness. Instead, it can be a time of peace and expectation! So, next time the world feels dark and you feel like you're standing in the unknown, take a moment to breathe deep and celebrate the expectation that something is about to break forth in "glorious light."
