Who are you?

Jul 19, 2022

If you know your identity, you can confidently answer when someone says “who are you?” However, statistics show that 37% of people struggle with their identity and up to 95% of people have felt inferior at some point in their life.  While this may feel discouraging, there is actually really great news when it comes to our identity.

Hi, I’m Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

From the moment we are born, we are constantly told who we are, or who we should be. With so many opinions and people with influence in our lives,  many of us begin wondering what our identity really is. Thankfully we can find our identity in Christ when we push aside all other opinions and focus only on what the Bible tells us about who we are.

1 Peter 2:9 says “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

You are chosen by God.  Whenever you start to doubt your identity, look to the truth of God’s word. Your identity in Christ, who God says you are, is more important, unchanging, and truthful than any identity you will find in the world. You are God’s special possession.
