Brian Oeding

Curious. Analytical. Servant.

Brian and his wife, Karen, have been married for over 30 years and a member of Sherwood Oaks for over 20. They have been part of the Beacons Sunday School class much of that time and both have served in a variety of roles. Brian has been a Deacon since 2015 and served as the Deacon Chair from 2020-2021. He serves on the Global Outreach Leadership and Communion/Offering Ministry Teams. He is the BISM International Furniture Giveaway volunteer coordinator and manages the event's website. He leads periodic service projects like Carefest/Season of Caring (e.g., for the Hannah Center) and has participated in short-term mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, India and Austria so far. He is passionate about serving and mobilizing the Church to help those in need locally and around the world. 

Some of his favorite things include: pickleball, racquetball, hiking, experiencing new places and activities, quotes, learning new things and volunteering. He enjoys Asian food and continues to work on his cooking skills. He devours audiobooks and podcasts, especially regarding becoming a better Christ-follower, economics and political philosophy. He likes listening to a variety of music styles and watching romantic comedy, Sci-Fi and action adventure movies. He has engineering and business degrees and has worked for SAIC for over 30 years mostly as a software developer, telecommuting most of that time, enjoying being productive and creative developing websites.
