Dear Parents,

We are so excited to start a new school year with all of you!  I know we all are feeling a bit of excitement and a little bit of anxiety about what this new school year might bring.  Our top priority is safety for students, staff, and families.   Please understand that things are quickly changing and so we ask that you be flexible and understanding as we grow through this process.  I will do my best to do the same with you!

We will have our orientation days as scheduled but with a different look.  Kindergarten will have their orientation on Tuesday, August 11 from 9:00 – 10:30 with Miss Deanna.  Our classes from age 2 – PreK will all take place on August 12 and 13 but we will have staggering times for each age group to avoid a large crowd here in the building.  Here are the adjusted times:

Wednesday, August 11

              2’s classes MW 9:00 – 10:00

Young 3’s MW, M-TH 9:30 – 10:30

3’s classes MWF 10:00 – 11:00

Pre – k MWF, M-TH 10:30 – 11:30

Thursday, August 12

2’s class TTH 9:00 – 10:00

Young 3’s TTH 9:30 – 10:30

3’s classes TTH 10:00 – 11:00

Pre – K TTH, M-F 10:30 – 11:30

Our nursery and toddler areas will have an Open House orientation on August 12 and 13 from 9am – 12:00.  Please feel free to drop by anytime on those mornings to meet the staff.

Our first day of school will be August 17. With the start of this school year, we will be making some adjustments and changes to help keep your children and our staff safe.  We know that we will not be able to eliminate all the risks of Covid – 19 virus, but we are putting together our best practices to help reduce the risks.  Here are some general guidelines:

  1.  All staff will be taking their temperature each morning before school.
  2.  Parents will need to temperature check their kids at home before coming into our building. Please remember anything over 100.0 F is considered a fever.
  3. The outside doors to our building will not open until 8:45 am so families are asked to wait in their cars until the doors are open.
  4. We will provide hand sanitizers at the preschool entrances.  We ask that everyone who enters the building use this before they enter the preschool areas.
  5. When possible, please limit the family members coming into the building at drop off.
  6. We also ask that you stay outside the building during pick-up except for our 2’s/toddler/nursery classes.
  7. Students will not be required to wear masks.
  8. Our staff will be required to wear a face covering.
  9. There will be a one-way entrance into the preschool and a three exits available to leave the preschool area.  We ask that you use the closest door to your child’s classroom to exit.
  10. Traffic patterns will look different for all classes as we try to limit the number of classes in the hallway at the same time.  Dismissal will have staggered times for each class to leave the preschool areas.
  11. All students will sign into their class inside the classroom.
  12. Students will have an individual school box with his/her own personal school supplies.
  13. Toys will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
  14. We have a safe nontoxic cleaning agent that will allow us to spray hard surfaces, light switches, door handles and larger toy items regularly throughout the morning.
  15. Lids will be removed from all trash containers.
  16. Gym toys will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
  17. Bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the morning.
  18. Hands will be washed/sanitized before and after snacks, meals, and recess.
  19. All snacks will need to be pre-packaged only.
  20. Creative recess times will keep fewer kids on the playground and in the gym area.  We will be expanding our resources to take nature walks, organized games, large group room activities, etc.
  21. Contactless thermometers will be provided in each classroom.  If a child is determined to have symptoms or a fever, the child will be taken to an isolated area with the assistant to contact the parent.
  22. Walkie-talkies will also be provided for each classroom to keep in contact throughout the morning.
  23. We will continue with our lunch bunch program, but all children will be socially distanced in our lunchroom.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and concerns that you might have.  We will continue to have conversations as the school year approaches on how we can improve our best practices. Please feel free to contact me about any questions that you might have – we want you to feel comfortable and confident to send your children here to our school.

As MCCSC has announced and is finalizing their plans for the 2020-2021 school year, we are excited to share that we do plan to open in August with our regular school schedule and hours. We have been working on our new safety procedures and protocols and will be sending those out the first week in July along with our plans for orientation. We can’t wait to see everyone back in August!

Weekday Preschool is a Christian-based program committed to helping children grow spiritually, academically, and socially. To this end, we embrace each child where they are developmentally and use daily activities and experiences as teaching moments.
