What are you wearing today?

We've all heard stories of a random act of kindness that has brightened someone else's day. Some of us have even experienced others sharing an act of kindness with us. Kindness is a fruit of the Spirit and can have a positive effect on both the giver and the receiver.

Hi, I'm Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

According to research, when you are kind to another person, your brain's pleasure and reward centers light up as if you were the recipient of the good deed. It's also been proven that people feel stronger and more energetic after helping others with increased feelings of self-worth. Colossians 3:12 says, As God's chosen people holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

The Greek word for clothes literally means to put on. When we wake up in the morning and decide what clothes to put on., we should also ask ourselves, What kind of attitude am I going to wear today? Kindness is a choice. It is love and action. And it is easy to be kind. A poem by Robert Burns said that the kind heart most resembles God.

And if we want to have a heart that resembles God, then we need to choose to put on kindness every single day.
