Easter and spring fit together so well. The hope that springs forth with the crocus and daffodils after the long, dreary winter elicits similar feelings we find at Easter as we celebrate the hope we have in Jesus Christ. His life, death and resurrection have defeated sin and death once for all and we have new life in Him. There is no better news in all the world! For those who have been called and choose to surrender their lives to the Lord, the promise of eternity with our savior is like an eternal spring bursting forth with life, sunshine and colors yet unknown to us.
Our brief time on earth, while there are days filled with both joy and sorrow, emotions and experiences that feel extreme and overwhelming in the moment, absolutely pales in comparison to what is to come. The message of Easter is the answer to all our hurts, hangups and habits. All of God’s promises are yes and amen in the risen body of Jesus Christ. (2 Cor. 1:20) We can know with 100% certainty that He will be faithful to us and provide all we need in this life, in our deaths and in the new life that is to come.
And they sang a new song, saying,
“Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.”
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
