This week we talked about the 5 ways we use money:
To Live
To Give
To Owe (Debt)
To Owe (Taxes)
To Grow (our Wealth)
Of these five ways, which one is the easiest for you to understand? Which is the hardest? For me, there is a part of me that struggles with the idea of growing our wealth. I get what it means, but it seems a little counter-intuitive to the “give everything away” mindset Christians sometimes have – why store up treasure here? But it’s more than just that, isn’t it? Growing our wealth can also mean having more to give away, more lives to change, more people to serve, more ways to impact the kingdom. We’re not talking about hoarding your treasure like a dragon in a cave – we’re talking about using money wisely and, like Jesus warned in Luke 12: if you store up for yourself, it’s wasted – if you store up for God’s kingdom, there is nothing He won’t do through you.
