“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one.”
Hi there! I’m Noah Saylor from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with today’s minute message.
That poignant quote is from CS Lewis’ book The Four Loves. In a way, you’re handing over your heart every time you love and trusting that it will not be dropped, manipulated, twisted, crushed, or broken. And how does it affect the way you love when that does happen? Your heart becomes harder over time and it becomes more difficult to freely give it.
Not so with God. We are able to love Him with the confidence that He will take good care of what we give Him. Philippians 4 tells us that “God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Talk to God today about how your heart has been handled lately, and see just how He can take care of it.
