The Sounds and Sights of the Lord's Handiwork are Everywhere

This week Pastor Tim reminded us that the moments we have with each other are short. To not rush through these moments, but instead to STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. Upon hearing these words, I instantly thought about being outside and marveling at the Lord’s presence and handiwork in nature. I frequently stop to admire a beautiful sunset in the evening, look at the rolling hills in the distance, or listen to the birds singing in the morning. These things are easy for me to do, to appreciate. But how often do I apply this same process to the relationships in my life? Especially those relationships that may have developed a distance or gap in them over time.

Ordinary, mundane moments in our relationships are often taken for granted, much like the sights and sounds of nature that we are blessed with daily. The next time I receive a text, email, phone call, or note in the mail – I will be reminded that someone took time out of their day to think about me and pour into that relationship. No matter how big or small the effort was. Rather than just reading or hearing – to truly stop, look, and listen to what they are saying. To give it the sincerity and consideration that it deserves, just as the Lord gives to us each day. I will be more mindful of keeping the gaps narrow by striving to see the best in people, and I hope you will join me in this effort as well.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” – Romans 12:9 (NIV)
