When storms approach, most animals run away. But the mighty bison turns and walks directly into the storm. What a powerful metaphor for our Christian walk! In Daniel 1, we see Daniel and his friends facing the storms of cultural pressure in Babylon. They didn't fight every battle - they knew the difference between mountains and molehills. But when it came to compromising their faith, they stood firm.
Like Daniel, we face cultural headwinds that challenge our faith daily. But remember: our strength doesn't come from our own resolve, but from Jesus - the one who "resolutely set out for Jerusalem" (Luke 9:51) to face the ultimate storm of the cross for us. He never wavers in His faithfulness, even when we do.
Today, may we have wisdom to discern which battles matter, courage to walk into necessary storms, and humility to rely on Christ's strength rather than our own.
