On Sunday, Sherwood Oaks Bedford broke out into the song, “Zacchaeus Was a Wee Little Man.” For many of us, it probably took us straight back to our childhood. All I understood was that a short man climbed a tree to see Jesus, and Jesus told him to come down because He was heading to his house. From the outside, that whole scene might sound a little strange.
What the song doesn’t capture is the heart of the story: a desperate, disliked man doing whatever it took just to catch a glimpse of Jesus. As adults, we have to ask ourselves—what would we climb a tree for? I hope I would be willing to go to great lengths to see Jesus.
What Zacchaeus didn’t realize that day was that Jesus wasn’t just going to notice him. He was going to invite Himself to his house. And when Jesus enters someone’s life, big changes follow. Zacchaeus immediately sought to make things right with the people he had wronged.
Pray that God opens your eyes to any situations where you may need to make things right. Sometimes we don’t see the hurt we’ve caused until He reveals it.
