Where Do You Run?

May 13, 2026

We all have our safety blankets—the things we reach for when life gets uncomfortable. Maybe it's your phone, a drink, binge-watching shows, or staying constantly busy. These aren't necessarily bad things, but ask yourself: Do I turn to these before I turn to God?

Ecclesiastes 7 reminds us that wisdom isn't found in constant feasting and laughter. Sometimes the noise of comfort we're seeking actually drowns out the voice of wisdom God wants to speak to us.

This Mother's Day week, try something different. Keep your phone in your pocket while waiting in line. Turn off the radio on your commute. Sit with that uncomfortable feeling instead of immediately escaping it. Say, "Lord, I'm listening. What do you want to say to me?"

God has so much more for you than distraction.
