Are you a worrier? Do you pace the floor and bite your nails? Do you ever break out in a cold sweat and feel like you have a squadron of butterflies doing aerobatics in in your stomach? Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

It has been said, “Many of our worries are like small trees that temporarily cast long shadows.”  I’ve learned that most of our worries are not nearly as daunting as we believe – they are simply long shadows of small things. Dr. Robert Eliot manages his stress and worry with two simple rules: “Rule # 1 – don’t sweat the small stuff. Rule # 2 – it’s all small stuff.”  That’s good advice. Some things in life you can control and others you can’t.

So, don’t worry about what’s in your power to control – take charge. On the other hand, don’t worry about what you can’t control because worrying won’t make a difference except to give you a headache. Perhaps Oswald Chambers said it best, “All worry is caused by calculating without God.”  So, when the long shadows of worry cross your path, step out of the shadows and into the light of God’s wisdom and strength.
