Derek and his wife Erika were married in 2014 and have two children, Lola (born in 2017) and Korver (born in 2019). He is lifelong member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. He and his family love the Chocolate Moose in Bloomington and spending time in Bloomington's many parks.
