Do You Want to Get Well?

Do you want to get well?

Tim asked us this question on Sunday, just as Jesus asked the invalid of 38 years at the Pool of Bethesda.

Why would Jesus ask someone who has been ill for 38 years if they want to get well? Wouldn’t you think He would have heard a loud and firm, “Yes!” But Jesus had more in mind with his questioning. It seems He was looking for a desire followed by faith.

Even though what each of us needs is to surrender our lives to Christ…to get well… do we really always want that? Do I truly want to leave behind the sins I have asked for repentance for? Do I believe that Jesus can really set me free from them? Do I believe being in Jesus’ freedom is better than being in the sin that feels good in the moment?

Do you want to get well? Do you want true healing and a full life in Christ?
