God loves us, despite our mess, with an everlasting love. He loves us IN OUR mess. Isn’t that good to hear? What’s your mess during this season?
My mess is all things Christmas. It’s a wonderful mess. But it’s also sometimes a world-centered mess. It’s full of Finding the Star, a tradition my friend introduced me to as a daily December tradition, family gatherings, Christmas church services, light viewing, decorating, yummy treats and family time. But it’s also full of shopping, list-making, gifts and gifts and more gifts. And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love buying and wrapping gifts for people. And especially seeing their smiles when they open something unexpected. BUT it’s so easy to get caught up in gifts and the money spent.
Let’s get back to the messy part. As my husband lovingly recollected and reminded me, “oh yeah, I sort of forgot about how Christmas means a mess in each room of the house for the month with wrapping paper and bags and preparations.” And isn’t that how we are as humans? We often leave a little bit of a mess everywhere we go. Sometimes we say harmful things instead of helpful ones. Sometimes we mean well, but things just don’t turn out the best. BUT GOD. God loves us despite our messes as we move around in this world. And if we can acknowledge that and turn back to Him in everything we do, we will be just fine! Because He loves us with an everlasting love, mess and all.
