What is Easter all about?

It is projected that over 3 Billion dollars will be spent on Easter candy this year. Americans will purchase over 90 million chocolate bunnies and over 700 million marshmallow peeps.  While the candy is sweet, it is not what Easter is all about.

Hi, I’m Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is the focal point of the Christian faith.  Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and then 3 days later he arose from the grave! Easter is the time when we celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and what is means for us.

Matthew 28:5 says “The angel said to the women, ‘Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.’”

This verse reminds us that we can hand all of our fears over to God. We can ask him to resurrect the parts of our faith that are hidden by fear. The angel says I know you are looking for Jesus. Often our souls are searching for answers or belonging, and we can only find those things in Him.

Come celebrate Easter with us at Sherwood Oaks. This is a time for us to be together to celebrate Jesus and what he’s done for us. You can find everything you need to know at socc.org/easter. We can’t wait to see you!
