You Don't Have to Pretend

"We admit we are powerless over our addictions, brokenness, and sinful patterns—that in our own power, our lives are unmanageable."

This is Step One in recovery, but it's also the starting line for every follower of Jesus. We can't heal what we won't reveal.

The man with the withered hand spent his life hiding his shame. Then Jesus asked him to stretch it out—not to embarrass him, but to heal him. When he obeyed, compassion met him, not condemnation.

Church should be the safest place to stop pretending. James 5:16 says, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed."

Your sin doesn't define you. Your struggles don't disqualify you. Jesus offers new life, new identity, and a community that walks with you toward healing.
