Adventure

Dec 20, 2012

A boring life is not a satisfactory life for most of us. We want more out of life and if we don’t have it…we seek it!  Sky diving, motorcycling, stock market, the lottery, marriage, and even having children.  And yet, those of us who are Christians have a personal invitation to the greatest adventure in history and we ignore it, in search of cheap and transient highs. This can happen anytime you’ve grown used to something. However, in the case of your relationship to God, it is a sign of someone who doesn’t “get it”. If you think you DO get it, ask yourself these questions…What has the Holy Spirit of God been teaching you this last month? Has God supernaturally used you to do something that you don’t actually have the ability to do?

The world offers thrills. I love basketball and football but how do they compare with the cosmic battle of God against evil? In a genuine Christian battle, the stakes are high and the danger is real. Have you gotten so used to the fact that God loves you that you have forgotten WHOM you are dealing with? God is no ‘paper tiger’ but, instead, One who can speak you out of existence. Or, have you ‘tamed’ God in your mind? That may be dangerous ground and a ‘thrill’ I don’t want to experience!
