Can I Have Your Attention, Please?

Have you ever had a moment where you say to your kids, "What did I just tell you?" and then there is this reply , "Uh, I don't remember."

Paul is starting off Galatians with a very similar inquiry to the people of the Galatian church... In verse 6-7 he states.... 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel. 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

How quickly we forget....or maybe we never paid attention in the first place. Maybe we are deceived or distracted by someone or something that enters our life that causes us to forget God's direction and grace. Apparently that is what was happening in the church at Galatia.

Paul goes on in this chapter to remind people of his past and to talk about what God did for him in order for him to completely change his life.

What jumped out at me as I read this passage today was this: How quick I am to forget God's order and His grace when we are not paying close attention in our lives. When we reach that point of just going through the motions of the day-to-day, getting all wrapped up in the unimportant that we drift off course. Can I have your attention please? God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His Grace is all sufficient and there is no substitute.   Refocus and redirect your attention to listening to Him today.
