Choosing Joy

Christmas for me is such a special time. I know how lucky I am to have a great family, great in-laws and great friends. Even though the stress of the season can be overwhelming sometimes, there is still something magical to me about the lights, the decorations, the joy...it's almost like, for just a moment, the world take a deep breath and we all smile together.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of snow (seriously, ask anyone who knows me), but I even got caught up in the giant falling flakes of the first snow this year. I couldn't help but smile as the clumps of snow fell, covering the grass and leaves for just a few minutes in a blanket of white. It was a preview of what's to come and a promise of a season of renewal.

The Christmas season can be about beauty or chaos. Which will yours be in 2015? This year, I am choosing to find the JOY in everything that December holds. My favorite verse of Joy to the World is the second:

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Prepare Him room, for He is here. And Joy shall know no end!
