Ezekiel 4

Dec 3, 2013

I don't know about you but I'm pretty glad that I don't live as an Old Testament prophet. God expected some pretty difficult things from those people! Ezekiel 4 is a good example. God sends his message to his people by making the prophet Ezekiel into a living parable.God plans to send famine on the land because of the peoples sinfulness. Poor Ezekiel has to live that out physically. It is a short chapter, only 17 verses. What does God expect from me today, living in the United States. That is actually the very question that came to Jesus when he was doing his earthly ministry. What does God expect from me was the inquiry. Jesus did NOT tell him to lay on his side for 390 days and cook his muffins on a fire fueled by dung,as he did Ezekiel. Jesus said that God wants you to love Him with every fiber of your being and to love your neighbor as yourself.

That pretty much sums up all the Old Testament law. Two very short Commandments.it's really not too much to ask for. He wants you to visit people who are sick, take care of the needy, turn the other cheek and be forgiving.love people. Jesus modeled that for us in his own life. The last verse in Ezekiel 4 says that sin gets an extreme reaction from God! On the other hand, love also gets an extreme reaction from God.
