In the End...

Nov 22, 2013

Christians know that in the end God will exonerate His faithful, penitent servants.

Through Isaiah 53, restored followers of God extol the vicarious suffering of God’s servant. As with many servant of God, the suffering servant, Jesus Christ is at first considered stricken, smitten and cursed of God. The prophet recognizes that Jesus suffered not for His own sins, but He was pierced and crushed because of our transgressions, iniquities and stubborn impenitence. The sins of many were laid on the faithful servant. Isaiah 53 begins and ends with vindication. God is the one who always snatches victory out of the hands of seeming defeat. Today the empty tomb proclaims the innocence of Jesus. The great wonder of God’s grace and wisdom is that “My servant will acquit many for He carried their sins.” 53:11

The recurring theme of ultimate redemption gives us hope in the darkest nights of the soul. In the last day, the righteous believers will rise to live and reign with the saints and martyrs who when it seemed all was lost are declared innocent in the name of the one who suffered for all.
