During an interview for a summer job, a teenager was asked this question, “How are you with handling irate customers?”  The young man thought for a minute and then replied, “I haven't had experience with irate customers, but I'm pretty good with irate parents.” He got the job.    Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Learning to be self-controlled in life’s irritating moments can be one of the greatest achievements in life. What’s obvious to those who love us is that we all struggle with anger in one way or another. A preschooler showed her friend the bathroom scales: “I don't know what it is…my mommy and daddy use it every day. But when you stand on it, it makes you really mad!”  What is it in your daily life that makes you really angry?  A co-worker who disagrees with you?  People who don’t drive like you want them to?  A missed opportunity in a sporting event?  Do you find yourself angry with your friends, co-workers, spouse, children, or even God?  Then remember these words from Proverbs, “A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.”
