Do you ever feel like your efforts go unnoticed? You work just as hard as the next guy, but he gets all the credit. Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Does the name William Dawes sound familiar in your study of American history? Probably not, but it should. He was responsible for warning the patriots of the arriving British forces on that famous April evening in 1775. He had seen the signal in Boston’s Christ Church steeple – remember the code, one if by land and two if by sea? Two lanterns hung briefly in the belfry; the British were coming across the water. At 9:30 that evening, Dawes mounted his horse and left Boston to warn the countryside. His partner didn’t leave Boston for another 30 minutes. After midnight both were captured by a British patrol, but Dawes managed to escape. His partner was eventually released but had to walk back to Boston. The name we all remember is that of the partner – Paul Revere, but William Dawes was equally important in spreading the news.

So don’t get discouraged when the world doesn’t see your effort and hard work. Do your best regardless because God always notices!
