I like this bit of common sense wisdom, "The person who really wants to do something finds a way; the other person finds an excuse." Hi, I'm Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.
Joshua Cowen was creative and he really wanted to succeed as an inventor. He tried to market his electric door bell, electric fan and lighted flowerpot. Unfortunately, consumers found the doorbell irritating and the electric fans proved to be inefficient. The lighted flowerpot, however, he believed had real potential so Mr. Cowen hired Conrad Hubert to promote it, but like the other products it didn't sell. Hubert, though, saw possibilities, purchased the patent rights from his boss, reconfigured some of the parts of the flowerpot and created the flashlight. He named his new company Eveready. Mr. Cowen didn't give up either; he took the motors out of his lackluster fans and put them into model train locomotives. It was an immediate success - today we only remember him by his middle name - Lionel.
As our Creator, God also gave us the capacity for creativity. Don't give up if your first idea doesn't work. Grab a flashlight and power up the electric train and remember - find a way not an excuse.
