Arnold Glasow wrote, “The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.” Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.
Not only is patience a virtue, it is necessary for building a successful life. Consider the Bamboo plant. Because it grows from the base and not from the tip as do trees, it’s classified as a type of woody grass. There are multiple varieties of bamboo, but at least one of those varieties demands great patience to cultivate. The grower must realize that for all of his efforts the first four years only visibly produces a small bulb and tiny shoot. Some might even mistake it for a weed. But during those first four years, the bamboo is developing a massive root system. Then in the fifth year, all of the effort is rewarded with incredible growth as shoots can reach as high as 80 feet.
Success in our careers, marriages, parenting and spiritual lives will only come through great patience. Patience isn’t easy, but if you are deeply rooted in God’s timing, the end result is always a boundless harvest. So don’t give up – your greatest victories will come when you learn to patiently wait on God.
