“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Micah 5:2
We're getting close to Christmas and I have to ask...are you starting to feel overwhelmed? Do you put a lot of pressure on yourself to have the perfect holiday season? Buy the perfect presents? Go all out?
Chances are, you said yes to at least one of those questions.
I get it. Really. I'm the same way. But it doesn't have to be that way! Read the verse at the top of this devotion again. Bethlehem was small. It was seemingly insignificant. It was nothing "special" to many people.
But God chose that place to reveal His plan. He could have gone all out - the birth of His Son deserved trumpets and palace walls and big city celebrations. Instead he came in a stable in a little forgotten town where no one would have ever imagined a king.
Instead of thinking big this Christmas, think small. Think of the little town of Bethlehem and how your little acts of kindness are just as important as the big moments of celebration.
