What are You Pursuing?

Dec 17, 2015

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for movies. Christmas time is a time for our family to gather around the TV and enjoy the laughs of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and the music of Pitch Perfect (no judgment, please). And with Star Wars poised to break box office records this month, I’m reminded of the power of pursuit in our culture. Clark Griswold pursues his Christmas bonus, Fat Amy pursues Bumper, and Han Solo pursues possessions in a galaxy far, far away.

This Christmas season, what are you pursuing?

Since the garden in Genesis, God’s endless pursuit of a relationship with us has forever changed our future. The churches in Revelation remind us that our God will always pursue us regardless of if we pursue him. And God’s ultimate pursuit of His people is what we celebrate during this time of year. A rotten apple in the Garden of Eden nor a lukewarm church in Laodicea will stop God’s pursuit of his people.

“And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” –Romans 8:3b-4

This Christmas season, God is pursuing you. What are you pursuing?
