Who is a Rock?

Only our God! Is there any like God? Are we not at bedrock? (MSG) When our feet Vickie Carmichaelare planted on solid, stable, secure ground, we are anchored to a strong foundation…the core, the base, the root of what we believe. When our faith is sealed with the promise of Christ, we have indeed set our feet upon bedrock.

David’s life was not a walk in the park! But through all the battles and the problems, David knew that God, his Rock, had sustained him and strengthened him. 2 Samuel 22:33 says, “It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.” We all face struggles and untimely circumstances in our lives.

God not only protected David, enabling him to flee from danger and lifting him out of every battle, He prepared and promoted him. The Lord taught David the art of defense; David listened and learned from his Teacher and stood firm in the heat of battle. David tasted victory! Isn’t that what we all long for?

This scripture reminds us that the same God that strengthened David is the same God who has promised to strengthen us. Regardless of what you face, know that God is always leading you toward victory in your life. It may not always appear that way, but it is still the pathway to victory, if it is the pathway of the Lord.

As this passage comes to a close, David takes a moment to look back, to look around and to look ahead. He identifies that his life has been blessed and graced by God…and he sings praises to the one truth in his life. David knows his life has been less than obedient, but no matter what, God has offered a hand to lead him through it.

Do we praise God for what he has done, is doing and will do in our life with the same adoration as David? Is God the Rock in your life?
