What is love?

Author Henry Miller said, “The only thing we never GET enough of is love; and the only thing we never GIVE enough of is love.” But how do you define love? Hi, I’m Emily Bedwell from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with today’s minute message.

I have some friends in Indianapolis who started a church a few years ago. From the beginning, their foundation has been simple – loved people love people. We can be a lot of things and we can make a lot of mistakes, but as long as we love, we’re living out God’s mission in this world.

God does not love us because we are perfect or because we live up to His expectations. We fail at both of those things. But, because He can love us as we are, we can do the same for others. 1 Peter 4:8 says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

So, as we approach Valentine’s Day, with its candy hearts, cards, chocolates, and more, remember that love is more than just a day, or even a month. It’s woven into who we are and who we should strive to be.
