There are so many things I heard on Sunday morning that have been encouraging me to refocus on what this Christmas season is truly about!
To name just a few:
• We get so tangled up in our emotions, that we forget all of the ways that God has already demonstrated His love for us.
• Love is an action, and there is nothing we can do to deserve God’s love.
• God gives us Christmas, the most incredible love story ever told.
• He has given us Jesus, the ultimate gift.
• God loves us in our mess, in our tangled-up emotions.
• No matter where we are today, God loves us with an everlasting love.
Can you imagine the mental shift that would take place in my week if I read these short statements from Sunday morning each day when I wake up? If in the middle of an argument, a mess, a sticky situation, I were to pause and be reminded of these things? This season can bring a lot of emotions for many people, but let us not forget that God’s love is an action and it’s always there, in our emotional mess and all!
