It’s been said that a lie believed as truth will affect your life as if it were.
Hi, I’m Shawn from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with today’s Minute Message.
Some of our staff at the church like to scare each other throughout the day. As much as I hate being startled, I love playing the game, and, last week, I got someone good. It was my best work yet. As fun as it was, though, I spent the rest of the day fearing her retribution. I walked into rooms and around corners slowly, not knowing she had left early that day.
I believed the lie that she was plotting her revenge and acted as if it were true.
What lies do you believe about yourself? That you’re not good enough? No one loves you? How are those lies affecting you and your mental health? You can only combat a lie with the truth, and truth is not a concept, it’s a person. Jesus is the truth and, when you seek more of Him in your life, He will set you free from the lies that make you walk in fear and hold you back.
